The ‘cost’ of sugar forum in March sold out very quickly and was a huge hit with the audience. Thanks to Radio New Zealand you now have chance to listen to the lively debate in full.

The forum will be broadcast:

  • 9.06am on Friday 14 April (Good Friday), 2017.
  • RNZ National (FM 101)

Healthier Lives Professor’s Jim Mann and Tony Blakely, and Professor Jacqueline Rowarth (Envrionmental Protection Authority), expertly chaired by renowned broadcaster Kim Hill, brought a real sense of energy and humour to this complex and controversial topic.

The result was a lively exposé of what we really know, and still don’t know, about the cost of sugar in our society.

Healthier Lives and A Better Start National Science Challenges, along with Edgar Diabetes and Obesity Research, originally presented this free public forum at Auckland City Hospital on Thursday 16 March, 2017.
