Healthier Lives provides support for capacity development and research focussed on obesity and type-two diabetes at the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR). One aspect of the work includes looking for markers of disease, so that we can more clearly distinguish patients for appropriate treatment i.e. treatments or interventions that will work best from a biological perspective. The other focus of the work is understanding the complexity of interventions from a health system, patient and community perspective, once again focussed on improving health care and identifying the best approaches for the individual, community or population.
